The Grants Management Institute
-
The National Institute of Federal Grants Management and Compliance (NIFGMC), founded by Jasmine Markanday through Markanday Consulting, is a national training and professional development initiative dedicated to advancing excellence in federal grants stewardship.
NIFGMC was created to address a critical gap in the grants ecosystem: while many professionals receive responsibility for managing federal funds, few have access to structured, practical training in grants management and compliance. This gap can lead to unnecessary risk, administrative challenges, and disruptions in service delivery.
Our institute provides accessible, applied learning designed to strengthen the capacity of professionals working in government agencies, healthcare systems, higher education, and nonprofit organizations. Our focus is exclusively on post-award grants management, including compliance, internal controls, reporting, subrecipient oversight, and responsible stewardship of federal funds.
All training is grounded in the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200) and other applicable federal regulations, translated into clear, real-world practices that professionals can apply immediately in their organizations.
-
To strengthen the systems, skills, and confidence required to manage federal grants effectively and responsibly.
-
Grant funding is a critical driver of public service, community development, and innovation. Yet many organizations are responsible for managing complex funding requirements without consistent access to formal training in grants management and compliance.
This gap can lead to unnecessary risk, administrative burden, and disruptions in service delivery.
Our work addresses this challenge by:
Improving the quality and consistency of grants management practices
Supporting compliance with federal, state, and private funding requirements
Strengthening internal controls and operational systems
Reducing preventable audit findings and administrative errors
Enhancing the sustainability of grant-funded programs
Supporting organizations in maintaining funding that benefits their communities
When grants are managed well, organizations remain compliant, funding is sustained, and communities continue to receive essential services.
